New Publication

With record speed, Elena Gritti, convenor of the Prosopografia 2024 conference in Bergamo, published the conference proceedings. In less than a year, she managed to publish an edited volume that is peer-reviewed and open access, containing almost 30 papers in English, French and Italian. This is only possible with enormous discipline and rigor. A truly impressive achievment.

My paper, which is rather theoretical, addresses important considerations in digitally born prosopographies. More concretely, it explores which aspects must be taken into account when designing a prosopographic database. Dealing with migration and mobility in the letters of Cyprian of Carthage makes this challenge even greater, as this line of research engages fundamentally with change. While describing change in conventional “pen and paper” prosopography is straightforward, modeling it digitally presents a real challenge. Sounds interesting? Have a look!
